Design of iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro is the same sleek, squared-off chassis you know and loves from the iPhone 12 and 13 Pro. Beautifully crafted from stainless steel and toughened glass on the back, the phone is protected by Apple’s Ceramic Shield and has an IP68 water-resistance rating, giving you confidence that spills won’t damage it.
Meanwhile, the volume controls and power buttons are still in place on the side and, for those in the U.S., the iPhone 14 is the first iPhone to only accept an eSIM. So if you’ve seen the iPhone 12 or 13 Pro, you already know what to expect from the iPhone 14 Pro.
The 6.1-inch Pro is the perfect balance between compact and comfortable – easily usable with one hand, yet weighing 206 grams and measuring 71mm wide and 7.8mm thick, it never feels bulky or cumbersome to hold. Despite its size, it’s surprisingly slippery, so be sure to invest in a protective case to keep it from making an unexpected escape.
Choose from one of the basic colors (black, silver, or gold) or go for the eye-catching new Deep Purple and pair it with a transparent case for maximum effect. In some light, the purple is almost indistinguishable from black, but get it in the right light and it positively glows. The effect is amplified by the purple hue of the chassis, creating a stunning look that I’m sure you’ll love.
The iPhone 14 Pro is a bold statement-maker with its large camera module on the back and three cameras that protrude significantly. It won’t lay flat on any surface, yet its design is nonetheless classically cool. There’s nothing flashy about the phone, yet it manages to fit in with any situation and still draw admiring glances—especially if you choose the purple one. This timeless design is unmistakably an iPhone, and it will continue to be a classic for years to come.
While the iPhone 14 Pro is undeniably a great device, I would have liked to have seen some design changes from the last two models. That said, it doesn’t necessarily need to look different for it to be successful. Apple has successfully created a classic, sleek design with the right size and weight, high-quality materials, and a stellar build quality. The one thing I would have liked to see is more color options, which I’m sure will come later to keep the range fresh.
Battery and charging of iPhone 14 Pro
The battery performance of the iPhone 14 Pro had its fair share of initial issues, but there are promising signs of improvement. If you use it moderately (around three to four hours of screen time) you can expect it to last you a full day.
Even with heavy use, such as GPS, camera, apps, a short amount of video, and a few hours of streaming music, the battery will still be down to less than 30% by early evening. This could lead to some anxiety, but with the signs of improvement, you can be sure that a trip to the charger won’t be necessary.
Since its launch, the iPhone 14 Pro has come a long way in terms of battery life. With the release of iOS 16.0.2, the battery life of my iPhone 13 Pro has vastly improved and I’m now able to use it for longer periods of time without having to worry about running out of power. While iOS 16.0.2 isn’t mentioned as a battery saver specifically, it may have helped optimize the system and contributed to improved performance.
A Camera of iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro is an upgrade to the iPhone 13 Pro’s camera, and the improvements, though slight, do make a difference. Featuring 48 megapixels in its main camera, 12 megapixels in both the wide-angle and telephoto cameras, the iPhone 14 Pro is a step up from the previous model.
We’ve already compared the iPhone 14 Pro to the iPhone 13 Pro and to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, giving you a thorough breakdown of the camera’s capabilities in a variety of settings and the ways in which the new Photonic Engine improves lowlight zoom images.
The iPhone 14 Pro takes your photographic experience to the next level with its impressive 2x or 3x optical zoom shots, or an even wider 0.5x wide-angle photo. Video recording is further enhanced with the capability to record up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps).
With its versatile features and satisfying performance, the iPhone 14 Pro is a great choice for photographers who want to capture a wide range of shots with clarity and quality. And while some may prefer a greater optical zoom, the 3x setting offers close-up shots that are sure to impress. The new 2x zoom also gives you more flexibility and options than a 5x zoom would.
The iPhone 14 Pro makes living with a new phone a breeze from the moment you open the box. Setting it up is fast and simple, and if you’re upgrading from an iPhone, Apple has made it even easier with extra temporary iCloud storage and fast account transfer.
And if you’re trading in your old iPhone, it’s super easy—there’s even a notification that makes it simple to get it ready for return. These thoughtful touches make the iPhone 14 Pro a great choice for anyone looking for an effortless and enjoyable experience with a top-of-the-line phone.
